Dr Kuljit Johal has been qualified in medicine since 2010 and his postgraduate training was undertaken at Leicester hospitals. He has been a General Practitioner since 2016 and went on to attain further qualifications to become a GP trainer. Dr Johal has been working both in the NHS and privately, providing his medical expertise to a vast number of patients. He has particularly enjoyed his role at Leicester GP Practice, working as a Principal GP and GP trainer. He undertook this role alongside his work in elderly and palliative care, doing weekly ward rounds at a care home.

His interests cover a wide range of medical aspects, although he shows a passion for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, men’s health and musculoskeletal conditions. At Phoenix Health Partnership he will be leading our Private GP services, including administering joint injections.

Dr Johal strengths are in the relationships he builds with his patients. This enables him to provide patients with a tailored treatment plan that’s devised wholly around their needs, and what’s in their best interests.

Dr Abbas Tejani is a Principal GP based in Leicester with a phenomenal experience in both primary and secondary care. Abbas has worked for both the CCG and currently sits on the Executive Board of his local hospital trust.

Abbas has worked as a Primary Care Surgeon for a number of years, undertaking 1,500 to 2,000 procedures a year, both in the community and in hospital. He has worked for 18 months undertaking skin cancer excisions in the Dermatology department at his local hospital trust. Additionally, he travels both nationally and internationally as an RCGP-accredited tutor to teach Minor Surgery and Joint Injections to GPs.

Abbas is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester Medical School where he chairs the City Academy and is also a tutor on the CHDD course.

Dr Raj Than has worked as a GP partner in Leicester for over 14 years, as well as being a Clinical Champion for Diabetes and a Clinical Lead for Leicester, leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Systems (ICS) for Diabetes and long-term conditions in Primary Care.

He is passionate about his work in health and well-being, and believes all patients deserve a high quality service. He has a growing interest in aesthetics and recognises the value these treatments have in a person’s overall welfare.

Dr Raj is interested in a range of areas available at Phoenix Health Partnership, including: weight management, men’s health, aesthetic medicine (with particular skills in administering injectable treatments), regenerative medicine (specifically facial rejuvenation and hair restoration) and joint injections.

Dr Sumit Virmani has extensive experience having worked as a medical doctor for over 15 years, with over 12 of these years working as a local GP.

His particular skills are in performing minor surgery, and the excision of skin lesions. Throughout his work he has been rewarded by the help he has given to his patients. He is especially proud when a person completes their treatment feeling elated by the transformation in their appearance. This has led to a growing interest in aesthetics, particularly with body contouring procedures and hair rejuvenation.

Dr Virmani is currently a locally practising GP. He aims to continue this service within his role at Phoenix Health Partnership, as well as focusing on aesthetic procedures and ensuring his patients have access to a wide range of health and well-being treatments.

Dr Anu Rao trained in Leicester and qualified as a GP in 2009. She has since been a GP principal at Forest House surgery in Shepshed. She is highly experienced GP with a specialist interest in women’s health including contraception (Intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants). She is also trained in performing minor operative procedures.

Dr Rao is also proficient in the care of the elderly and believes in providing patient centred holistic care. She believes in exploring patients’ perspective and helping in forming a shared decision-making.

Dr Mahesh Kodivalasa has vast experience as a specialist in anaesthesia and pain medicine.

Having completed basic post-graduation training in anaesthesia in India in 2005, he moved to the United Kingdom in 2009. Dr Kodivalasa completed his training in the United Kingdom as a Specialist Trainee in anaesthetics. He has also undergone a dedicated fellowship training programme in pain medicine.

Dr Kodivalasa received personnel commendation from the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Royal College of Anaesthetists. He was awarded the prestigious FFPMRCA (Pain Medicine) Examination Prize for his excellent performance and for scoring the highest in the country.

Dr Kodivalasa is working as a consultant in anaesthetics and pain medicine in The University Hospitals of Leicester – NHS Trust, United Kingdom since 2018. He is the lead for Pain Service since 2022 and successfully steered many innovative projects.

He has extensive experience in the management of chronic pain conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches, facial pain, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, neuropathic pain, chronic post-surgical pain, joint pains, complex regional pain syndrome and widespread pain. 

Dr Kodivalasa sees patients in the outpatient clinic for a comprehensive assessment. Patient tailored pain management is his forte. Dr Kodivalasa is an expert in pain medicine including interventional management. His areas of special interest include ultrasound guided interventional procedures. He is equally skilful in fluoroscopy (X-Ray) guided procedures. 

Dr Mahesh Kodivalasa is the founder director of many innovative and highly reputed courses attended by the delegates from UK and abroad. He also has co-authored two textbooks.

Dr Gunjan Bedi is a highly experienced doctor, having worked in the medical sector for over 20 years, with over 10 years service as a GP.

Dr Bedi is also a highly skilled, advanced aesthetics practitioner. She has completed extensive training in dermatology and aesthetic medicine, as well as achieving her qualifications to practice as a GP. Prior to her work in General Practice in Whitwick, Dr Bedi worked in psychiatry. She brings her passion for patient safety and patient care to her role, approaching treatments with meticulous precision. Dr Bedi knows that a great result comes from vast medical knowledge combined with a good eye for detail.

Dr Hissaund is a University of Leicester graduate now working as a private and NHS GP in Leicester and Leicestershire.

She has interests in Women’s and Sexual health and Mental Health Conditions. And is also a clinical tutor for medical students at the University of Leicester.

She works as a GPwSI in Breast disease for Phoenix Health Partnership.

Umar Sabat is a well-respected Information Governance subject matter expert across the NHS. He has worked across Information Governance within commissioning and provider NHS organisations and within private healthcare environments. Some of his recent appointments include working for Department of Health and NHS Blood and Transplant, and NHS Digital supporting Test Digital for COVID-19.

Umar is heavily involved in outsourced Data Protection Officer services and Information Governance Services as a solution for NHS and non-NHS organisations, some of which operate globally
